Dream big

I came across this nice quote today. you always have to dream big, It will eventually become a reality.

"Don't be afraid of the space between
your dreams and reality. If you can
dream it, you can make it so."

Setting Personal Goals

Have you set personal goals to your life ..always you should ask what you want out of your life ..its very important to set visions for your life and review it often.

Never compromise on your vision but you may compromise for your vision . Its better to write down your vision and align it with the daily time plan , which i wrote in my previous post . The priorities of work you set should be aligned with the your vision.

When going towards your vision you should not have the fear of failure. failures always shows you the correct path towards success . I came across a great speech done by Imran khan at CIMA conference , which was held in Sri Lanka . he talks about visions and how to achieve then successfully . Here is a youtube clip which contains a  part of the speech.

How to prioritize your work

How to you prioritize your work ? ..is a question that you should ask for yourself... prioritizing work is very important otherwise you will end up with spending the most of your valuable time doing something not important.

I had a problem some time back in prioritize my work because i was doing multiple  tasks at the same time , which is the situation with most of the working community . Then I came a across with the concept of categorizing work , which  was taught during a time management program organized by my workplace.

According to it , the work you do on a daily basis should be categorized in to four categories as shown below

Concentrate on the Urgent and Important work first . For example studying for an examination due on particular date or planning for a presentation on technology review for the management at work can be an urgent and important work. Not urgent work normally do not have a target date.  What I feel is that the categorizing should be done based on a comparison of the work you have and its all up to you to decide on which category your work belongs to .

I now prioritize my work for the week on each Sunday evening using an excel sheet. I maintain an excel tab for each week and organize urgent work sorted from the due date and not urgent work listed in priority basis. When  I complete a work, I highlight it with green and overdue work in red so that at the end of the week I can  review it and see where I am currently with my work

I found this method very useful in planning my work .
